touchpad on hp pavilion

hi,
my touchpad does not work properly on archlinux. i can move the pointer but i tapping and scrolling don't work. i don't where to start from to fix this problem. it used to work on other distros (such as mepis) but not with arch.

this is what i found with dmesg:
Synaptics Touchpad, model: 1
Firmware: 5.8
Sensor: 35
new absolute packet format
Touchpad has extended capability bits
-> multifinger detection
-> palm detection
input: SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad on isa0060/serio1
serio: i8042 KBD port at 0x60,0x64 irq 1

is that of any use?

thanks,
.a.

Re: touchpad on hp pavilion

there is a package in the repo for the synaptics driver.
install that, and look at directions on how to use it here http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340/touchpad/index.html

there are also a couple of posts on this forum giving some extra hints that might help you...

good luck
