xorg-server 1.6 and dri 2

Is xorg-server 1.6 built with dri2 support? What improvements does a user get from dri2 enabled xorg-server? (intel user here, currently running last xorg-server 1.6 RC with dri2 enabled at compilation)

Seems like it is when you start X with UXA enabled. At least that's what I see in my Xorg.0.log
Everything is very smooth which it wasn't before here.
But I have a massive memory leak here with desktop effects on KDE4.2 enabled.

DRI2 is only used by the intel driver at this moment, and only when you run in UXA mode. Performance looks good with DRI2/UXA, at least for compositing. Real 3D applications like Google Earth still seem to run as slow as the old driver though.

Re: xorg-server 1.6 and dri 2

In other words: xorg-server is not shipped with dri2 support, but IF you're using an intel card and IF you're using uxa, you should see some benefits of it. So... Since it doesn't break anything, why don't you the developers build the package with --inable-dri2 for those of us with intel hardware, who are feeling like experimenting? (Feature request)

You do use DRI2 if you're using Intel GMA in UXA mode with the packages from [testing].
