Hello I was wondering if there is anything specific besides eeepc_laptop that I need to compile into the kernel?
I am running 2.6.29 and acpi is only detecting the Fn+F1 (Sleep) key. All the other keys do not give any acpi codes when using acpi_listen.
All the function keys worked in 2.6.28.7. I do not think I 'm missing anything as Fn+F1 works and goes through acpi. If there isn't anything specific I guess I'll post to the bug list for the kernel.
My 2.6.29-rc7 kernel config: http://rafb.net/p/GTQiS467.html

You need to recompile asus_acpi for every kernel update, and to reinstall the custom kernel so it overrite modullist. All info in wiki.

I'm pretty sure that asus_acpi is not need for the EEEPC. I have looked at various different configs, looked at what has been loaded on the stock kernel on 2.6.28, etc...
I'm nearly positive this is a kernel bug and I have reported as such: http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12831

I use the stock kernel on my eeepc and all the fn-F keys work, no custom kernels/modules etc.

^^
You probably have eeepc_laptop loaded, which from my understand gives support for the function keys on the eeepc. I don't have any problems with the stock kernel besides that fact wireless + bluetooth toggling don't work (issues the rfkill + ath9k).
As I said I think my issue is a bug with 2.6.29
