Gnome Wierdness Sometimes

I have a laptop running Arch32 and a Desktop (Quad Core) running Arch64. I run the latest stable versions of Gnome, nVidia drivers (both macines have an 8000 series nVidia card) and Kernel. No funny stuff or custom compiled things.

Anyway, I've noticed that the Desktop is just blazing fast (duh!), BUT....when I boot up, if I don't wait for a bit (30 seconds maybe) at the GDM prompt to log on, Gnome will get the theme and icons wrong. I get the default gnome stuff. If I log out and back in, it clears up. Also, sometimes the Desktop switcher doesn't show up right. (It works, but it doesn't "draw" the desktops.) Again, loging out and back in fixes it.

This stuff never happens on the 32-bit machine.

What I'm wondering is:

1) Do any other Arch64 people have this issue?
2) Do you think it could be something not working well with the 64-bit version and not starting (a daemon or something)?

I've always used Gnome, but I tried KDE4.3 when it came out. I liked it and stayed there a couple of weeks, but have since returned to Gnome. KDE never acted odd like this. Anyway, any opinions are welcome.
