[Solved] Skype microphone gone

Maybe after last installs, maybe because of my tweakings Skype microphone doesn't work anymore -- I hear nothing during "Skype Test Call".

Would someone suggest any starting point for investigation?

If every other app can speak to the world then I would check skype's settings. Otherwise first get every other app to speak to the world then solve the skype problem.
Also some program may be hijacking your soundcard .... thats known to happen with alsa (which I have started to hate since I bought a new laptop because of issues like that).

You could also use arecord, from my experience the quality of the sound recording will be more similar to what you will get when using any other program like skype. Audacity somehow manages to get around bugs (?) and give you better recordings.
