External screen wrong size problem

I succeeded in connecting my LG 720p TV to my computer (Dell xps m1330) through the hdmi connection. I can only choose the standard resolutions (1280x720, 1920x1080...) but my tv is 1366x768. I don't know if that changes anything.

So my problem is that I can't see the outer edges of my screen. It looks like it thinks that the screen is larger than what it really is. I have tried playing with the settings on my TV but it does not look like there is any setting that can change this.

I am using nvidia-settings to configure the screen.

Thanks for any help!

Re: External screen wrong size problem

I had the same problem using an ati card..I never did manage to get the right resolution with the HDMI cable so Im using a standard monitor cable now and I get the right res of 1360*768.

Ok, good to know. However, that is not an option for me.
