Yes its working, its turns OFF and then ON, but why didnt work after suspend/resume???

*shrug* I don't have an AAO one, yet.

Is the module loaded after the resume (look at the output of 'lsmod')?

If it is, maybe it's a bug an you should report it to

Also, you could have a look at the output of 'dmesg'. Maybe the module
complains there.

Depends on the system you are using for hibernation.
Each system should have some configuration. There it
will be possible to tell your system to load the module at resume, I guess.
Have a look at your system's documentation.

use Gnome to do so, or KDE? Or the hibernate scripts?

Its not Hibernate, is Suspend... im using gnome

Well, Gnome uses Gnome-Power-Manager which uses hal which
uses pm-utils, I guess.

You can try

echo SUSPEND_MODULES='"acerhdf"' > /etc/pm/config.d/unload_modules

and see if it helps. But only if there isn't an
/etc/pm/config.d/unload_modules
yet.

I can't promise success, though.

Hello fellow AAO users,

I bought my A110L two weeks ago and after one evening of trying Linpus I decided to install Arch. It was my first Arch installation and besides some partitioning issues everything went smooth as silk. Now I'm running the stock kernel, enjoying boot times < 15s (grub to gdm) and nearly 100% of the Acer's functionality (besides the Wifi LED that I don't really miss and some issues that I'll address later). Big thanks to the Arch community and especially the AAO users for providing such an excellent documentation! It really helped me to learn the concepts behind Arch and getting everything up and running the way I liked it.

Now to my remaining issues:

1.) I'm currently running XFCE. With 4.4, the FN keys of my AAO worked fine after setting them up as described in the wiki article. Now after the upgrade to 4.6, FN+UP no longer increases the audio volume. FN+DOWN still works as before. I deleted all my application shortcuts in the keyboard settings dialog and reassigned everything, but that didn't help. The settings dialog, however, recognized FN+UP correctly (as XF86AudioRaiseVolume). xev tells me:

It's a bit strange that FN+DOWN gives a totally different result:

No notion of XF86AudioLowerVolume, but this keypress has the right effect. Any ideas?

2.) I'd like to capture some audio without hearing the signal in the speakers. It looks as if this isn't possible with the Intel HDA codec. I can adjust the capture volume but not the playback of the captured signal. The only way to achieve this is to mute the master, but this isn't an option. (The application I'd like to use is CRRCsim, a model aircraft flight simulator. It samples the signal from the R/C transmitter through line-in and uses this as an input device to control the model. If I mute master, I don't hear the engine sound produced by the simulation)

3.) I can't get more than 350 fps in glxgears even when applying all the fixes from the Wiki. On the other hand, everything I need runs smooth.

4.) In Stellarium I'm getting some garbled on-screen text. Maybe a problem with xorg-video-intel.

I've also noticed the problem with acerhdf not resuming correctly, but that's ok because I rarely use suspend.

Bottom line: I'm really happy with my netbook, especially in combination with Arch. Now if someone could help me fix the remaining issues...

The cheapest AAO1 is fine, only the ssd is very slow so I would recommend adding a gig of additional ram. Doable by hand but don't blame me if things go wrong ;-)

You could wait for the next gen but that's gonna be at least 6 months and more if you have to wait for it in europe

Yep, I noticed that too. It's exactly the same problem I had on my desktop about a year or so ago with Stellarium on ATI hardware. The Stellarium devs were aware of it then, and blamed the driver devs. And, from what I could gather, vice-versa.

Still, I've had my AAO about a week now and I completely agree with you: but for a few minor niggles (yes, I can live without the Wi-Fi LED, but it annoys me ), it's fantastic.

Yep, from what I can tell, it's ages faster than ext2. It's weird, considering it uses a journal. If you want to disable journaling on it you'll have to wait for kernel .29 to roll around.

Yes, I found that in the Stellarium FAQ. Nevertheless I hope that there will be a fix in the near future, either from the Stellarium team or the driver devs.

<off topic>I have to admit that it's hard for the Stellarium team to solve all issues related to different graphics hardware. I'm maintaining an OpenGL application myself, and it sometimes drives me crazy if I get a bug report that I can't reproduce because my hardware simply does it right. And many times the problems are indeed solved by upgrading (or worse, by downgrading) the display driver.</off topic>

In the meantime I fixed the FN key problem. I removed all key bindings in XFCE4, then updated my ~/.Xmodmap according to the xev output:

...
keycode 122 = XF86AudioLowerVolume
keycode 123 = XF86AudioRaiseVolume
...

instead of

...
keycode 174 = XF86AudioLowerVolume
keycode 176 = XF86AudioRaiseVolume

as listed in the Wiki. Then I rebooted and reassigned the keys in XFCE. Now the sound controls work like before.

Now I have to take a second look at my audio capturing problem.

Probably, but it's most likely more complicated than running a reinstall. Save a list with what packages you have installed so it's easy to re-install. Instructions are somewhere on the wiki.

having some troubles with FN keys here as well, some time ago increasing/drecreasing/muting volume doesn't work with the keys, xev shows them as correctly recognized, Xmodmap is set correctly, using kdemod4, maybe someone having the same issues?

No, I had that problem before, but when I reinstalled I followed the wiki for the Xmodmap things (If you need the date it was probably a couple of weeks ago). Works fine with kdemod4. I use Kosd though, but that shouldn't really make a difference.

Anyway, i have all my packages backed up on my external disk. So it won't be a big prob to reinstall...:) Are you still using kdemod 4.2 on your AA1? I might as well try it also again..:)

is your xmodmap the same as on the wiki? seems to be some configure problem, can't figure out what conf is wrong though.. hhhhm

I just picked up my AOD150-1676 10.1" last night, but won't have a chance to really check it out until after work today...

Are there any Acer parts dealers that Canadian AAO owners would recommend? I bought the Canadian model which comes with an International EN/FR/NL keyboard. I'm sure I could get accustomed to it, but I'd rather have the simple, well-organized US keyboard. Even better would be a parts dealer that also sells add-on RAM at a decent price.
