Any recommendations? I like arch, but other people does not...I installed arch on my dad's eee-pc but he complains upon installing softwares...Since he's pretty new to linux...I want a distro to install for them which is easy to explore, requires less user intervention, and works out of the box or close...:)
Thanks in advance...:)

Debian (Lenny or "Testing") + LXDE and synaptic. Also if I remember right there is a Debian Eee project, which provides install images.

I haven't tried rpm distros yet in the past...But maybe this time I'll be trying them out...:)

Put Shaman on there. Makes installing software on Arch even easier than it already is.

Eeebuntu is the best eee specific distribution ATM IMO
There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

I would give Linux Mint a shot.

in general ubuntu is my choice for end users/linux newbs. For the eeePC specifically i would recomed eeeubuntu over easy peasy...if for no other reason then the thought that "easy peasy" is a really dumb name.
I'd also reccomend linux mint if you want something that "just works". It comes with things like libdvdcss, flash and other codecs already installed.

This thread is exactly like all others of the same question. People will post about what basically amounts to four distros in different forms. I don't mean to be rude, but it's really not going cover any new ground.
