I just installed Archlinux on my laptop with an Ubuntu installed on it but:
1- The new grub omitted ubuntu (which i fixed it manually later)
2- I have no X server installed, no gnome or xfce or ... I do not even have any xorg.conf
3- I only can login as root from the command prompt
I installed both core and dev packages.
Should I install and configure x server and gnome or ... manually?
Is there no x server by default?
I need to be connected to the internet only through a wireless access point.
Please tell me what's going on and what should I do.
Regards

That is the default install. Read http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners_Guide

1. Arch don't use "auto-mess" tools. You did the right thing.
2. Install one yourself. `pacman -Sy xorg some_wm_or_de ttf-some_fonts`. Also read http://www.archlinux.org/news/424, or you will probably find yourself without a working mouse/keyboard in X
3. Add as many new users as you need/want. `adduser` is nice for that task.
