What linux websites/blogs do you read?

I'm looking for new ones to read. Currently I read distrowatch, tuxgeek, and linuxhaxor

Re: What linux websites/blogs do you read?

Slashdot is always a regular for me. Sometimes the articles are good, other times it can be a bit slow but it's updated regularly.

i check heise online now and then for comprehensive open source news; i especially like their kernel updates, check the 2.6.28 one for instance.

Re: What linux websites/blogs do you read?

Ooooh, I just tried heise online, and it seems quite good. Who runs/operates it? Personaly I check slashdot and sometimes lwn. The community section of the ubuntu forums usualy has some interesting stories in it, with more in depth discussion than on the average comments section of a news site.

Re: What linux websites/blogs do you read?

I check Distrowatch frequently, not so much for the ratings as for the new release updates. Also, Slashdot is great and Linux.com was good but recently was "out of the game" for a few months. I just noticed they have a new temporary page up that says they will be relaunching Linux.com soon with The Linux Foundation behind it. So I will have to check that out... I also like LinuxInsider.

Re: What linux websites/blogs do you read?

I tend to go to slashdot mainly, but I also have phoronix news and os news on my news feeds.
it's hard to find regular linux/oss news pages that dont have the same articles, but i've found those three to have a good range (for my interests anyway).
I mainly check forums though, like arch, kde, and a couple of others.

Re: What linux websites/blogs do you read?

A quick glance through digg technology and slashdot every day usually keeps me updated.  Plus it only takes about an hour of my time.

http://distrowatch.com/ and http://blogs.computerworld.com/sjvn
Though I find the latter to be less and less interesting lately.

Re: What linux websites/blogs do you read?

Frankly, as entertaining as /. may be, it is highly tendentious at times. I think it's nice when you fit in with the target audience (anything non-Windows and feeling good about that, basically), but it is hardly news-worthy.

Sometimes Slashdot looks a bit like the Sun to me - only in IT.

As for distrowatch... I find the site debatable. I have grown a fond dislike of it due to people thinking of it as important because it shows some arbitrary distro homepage stats, and that probably clouds my overall judgement of the site. But I find it has very little relevant information. If you're a distro jumper/watcher it may be of value but I am barely interested in new release of distro X or Y. But hey, that's just my two cents wink

I like Ars Technica. Heise looks good too. LWN has interesting stuff too but they have a lot of (hot) subscriber-only content (no, I'm cheap, I don't want to pay for Linux news). LWN is very good for reference stuff though.

http://kmandla.wordpress.com -- I like to read how he manages to survive with low-end hardware... [Hi, if you're reading tongue - I know you sometimes do.]

http://reddit.com/r/linux -- Links to several Linux articles.

http://slashdot.org -- Like everyone else.

Those are the ones I check every day. Occasionally, (like every other day) I check:

http://torvalds-family.blogspot.com -- The man himself.

http://phoronix.com -- Good articles sometimes, but not always...

I just scan these once in a while, but usually there's something interesting at linuxworld, linuxplanet or linuxtoday.com.
