Laptop keyboard unresponsive for about 10 seconds after reaching login

Arch reaches agetty in about 15 seconds after grub (awesome), but I still can't login for another 10 seconds or so because the keyboard isn't responsive yet.

Adding usbinput to the HOOKS array in mkinitcpio.conf and rebuilding the image didn't help (or at least the last time I tried it. I'll give it another shot though)

Any ideas on what's causing it?

Ba-bump.  The usbinput hook didn't help.
