Access denied as root

I have an lvm with four hard drives on it. More an more of the files are becoming inaccessible as root... giving me a permission denied error when I try to do anything with them. Being root... how is this possible?!

This is getting annoying fast.

Re: Access denied as root

What do you mean do anything with them (what sorts of things are you trying to do)? Have the permissions been accidentally or maliciously modified?

ie:  if you 'chown 000 filename'  you can't do much with it as any user.

Re: Access denied as root

I have no idea what was going on, but I rebooted it after an uptime of about 40 days, and all was well.

That was a terrible scare.

I couldn't even view the contents of directories or create new files on a growing section of my LVM.
