World of Warcraft, OpenGL and ATI Catalyst issues

I've successfully installed and patched World of Warcraft by following the Arch wiki, and got the game to run.
However, if I run it under Direct3D mode, I get around 25 FPS indoors, and about 15 outdoors. OTOH, the OpenGL mode is even slower - way below 10 FPS outdoors. Is this normal, considering that I have ATI (mobility) Radeon 9700 GPU and running the Catalyst 9.2?
I remember WoW running much faster some time ago.

Any help or ideas considering this would be much appreciated.

Only the best is good enough.
