New to Arch don't know how to get things up and running on strartup

I can't seem to find an answer anywhere...

I installed proftpd on my LinHES computer that runs Archlinux as the core OS.

I am used to Debian based Distro's and know that I would use something like:

update-rc.d proftpd defaults

to get it to run on startup.

I don't know how to do this in Arch.

I also have X11VNC installed and would like to do the same with it.

I am looking forward to the opportunity to learn a different version of Linux.

Thanks.

John

Check out the DAEMONS= array in /etc/rc.conf
Also, peruse the Beginners' Guide a bit to gain more familiarity.

you can read about DAEMONS in rc.conf here

LinHES uses runit.  You'll need a run file to proftpd, then you'll need to add_service.sh proftpd.

Thanks Cecil,

You're a busy MAN!

My next question is:  where do I find a run file for proftpd?

johnboy68, LinHES has its own forum, and given the significant differences between LinHES and Arch, e.g. runit, I'd recommend that you ask there.
