Did anyone upgrade thunderbird without issue?

Hi Archers,

My recent upgrade from thunderbird 0.7.3 to 0.8 was painful.

I read numerous forum entries of backing up .thunderbird/ installing and then copying in old files.

This is not only painful, it didn't really work for me.

My numerous mail accounts are IMAP based, so I didn't really lose mail, but addresses and Local Folders reverted back to a very old version that was imported from an old mozilla mail install.

Did this upgrade work for anyone?

Is thunderbird really THIS incompatible between versions?

Is it going to be this painful again going to 0.9?

More specifically:

1) Is there some way to import an older thunderbird install instead of mozilla?

2) Is there some way to import an old thunderbird address book?

3) Is there some way to import an old thunderbird junk training file?

Sorry for all the questions in one thread, but I've got a lot of problems to solve 8-(

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Arch is awesome! for its bsd like init, for abs and the package system, but mostly because of the community!!

Thank You JV, Thank You to the core, and Thank You to the WHOLE Arch community!!!

Re: Did anyone upgrade thunderbird without issue?

I didn't yet bother to upgrade because of the issues and in the 0.8-version (now 0.9 is out) I couldn't access pop.

During this try-out I threw away all my old settings ... everything of thunderbird really ...
