I don't know if you know / care for that but Linux Hater's blog is back. And his newest rant is about boot-time speed.
A topic hold dearly by some Archers .
What do you think do you agree with him; disagree?
I would say that for me boot-sped is quite important as I do turn-off my computer and not just suspend it. So I still feel that spped of Arch(for me 19s from Grub to KDM)
is still useful. As many times I don't even register what's happened and my KDM is already there .
But still I do enjoy rants about Linux once and awhile.
(Hope I didn't broke any Arch Forum rules by posting this)

You know, you shouldn't post links to that blog, the writer(s) just rant and doesn't contribute to anything. I can do a Windows Hater;s blog, and I will have a lot of material for it, since I don't like windows. I can do an OpenSolaris Hater's Blog and I will have material for it, and I do like opensolaris. So the sole idea of that blog is dull. You are just patronizing his nonsense.
I hope this and all topics posting links to linux hater's gets closed.

Arch gives you a fast system out of the box and an easy way to manage daemons etc... you must be thinking of gentoo peeps.
Fast boot is nice... spending days/weeks to shave a couple of seconds and starting threads/bragging about it is not.

Yeah, for that reason I'm not even bothering clicking the link. I've been there before. Talk about trolls.

Quite honestly, boot time's great, never having to reboot is greater... He has a point in that way of looking at things...
I recently really started using suspend and such... And it's handy...
However, he has no right to bitch towards linux, because both microsoft and apple are going the same road... They're all doing boot-times instead of focusing on that stuff

Althoug I agree with Kensai I must say I enjoy reading that blog. Even if it is just to bring me down to earth, to keep reminding me there is no perfect operating system. However I would love for the LinuxHater guy to write a blog about either the positive things in Linux or Windows, just to see what floats his boat.

i see no reason why this link shouldnt be posted. I don't read a lot of his (i.e LH's) blog, but in this article (and i dont know how about other articles from this blog) guy write the truth... but, of course, its not necessary *nice* for some users, for whom boot time is more important than other stuff /on typical desktop/ (victory! i cut boot time from 15 sec to 12! hurray! i know that i didn't wasted those 2 weeks! and i don't really need all those daemons: syslog-ng and cron are more than enogh! yuppie!)
</flamewar mode: off>
... btw, you should approciate scoffers- there are, often, more useful than most people think...

Sorry didn't know. Seriously.
For me some of his writings makes sense. But then I'm just a regular Linux user. I don't have a devs knowledge.
So he might be writing totally made-up stuff and I couldn't tell if it's the truth or not.
Also I completely agree with Vinintendo. And I somehow like read a "good" bashing of things I like. I just have that kind of sense of humour.
Again sorry if I offended anyone. It was completely unintentional.
I just found a post on Ubuntu Forums saying I hate Linux that linked to this site. And I remembered that I read some of his rants and liked it.
So I decided to share with you. Again sorry.
It can be "bikeshed". Whatever you mods want to do with it.

What do you think? This thread is just promoting hate for linux, the link shouldn't have been posted in the first place. Its better if we don't know about this, its good ignorance. No offense to the author of this thread:

@haxit
no, i dont think that this thread is promoting 'hate for linux'. it's just laughing on some linux's users' fetishes (like: super-hyper fast boot etc etc).
about this 'good ignorance'- sure, life is easier when you don't know other's ways of looking on something, when you don't know others' peoples' perception on things...
btw, nice mammal

If the thread started off innocently, it certainly ended up being totally F'en stupid.
