is there somthing special i should be doing durrning the install? IAfter isntalling these i still come up with the same error. I dont remember the exact error now, but its somthing to do with xfce4-session not loading.

If you're getting the error I think you are getting, it's a matter of copying the initial xfce4-session configuration file. Xfce should do it for you, unless your XDG_CONFIG_DIRS is not correctly set. Make sure $prefix/etc/xdg is listed among the other directories of the variable.
