Radeon and dark terminal when X starts

Hi there.
I'm using xorg-server 1.5 and open-source radeon driver.
Everything works well, including 3D acceleration. But there is still one certain problem.
After I launch X, terminal (init 3) goes very dark (brightness/contrast has changed) and the text is barely visible. Shuting down/restart X doesn't help (but in graphical environment everything is still fine), my attempt of changing brightness by function keys didn't succeed then. Terminal is fine before i start X.

I'm using Asus F5VL laptop with Mobility Radeon X2300.

There wasn't any problems with closed-source driver (catalyst/fglrx), but now they are not available for xorg-server 1.5 or lower. But I'm not interested in them anymore because they are buggy.

Anyone knows a solution to this? Maybe there is a way to set fixed value of brightness for init3?
