Weird GTK problem. Solved it, but weird.

So after the last upgrade I couldn't get any commands to work in Openbox (as in, selecting stuff on the menu didn't work and I couldn't get my gmrun keybind to go), and discovered I was getting a lot of strange errors about libgtk-x11 things. Then I tried to reinstall gtk2 entirely and got this:

"could not open file /var/lib/pacman/local/gtk2"

So I uninstalled gtk2 while logged out of X and tried to install it again. Got about six thousand error messages along the lines of:

"gtk2: usr/share/man/man1/gdk-pixbuf-csource.1.gz exists in filesystem"

I had to do a sudo pacman -Sf gtk2 and THEN everything started working again.

What happened?

And in the midst of such perfection,
I can't help but feel diseased.
