Hi all,
I recently got myself an iPhone, and have it jailbroken and working under Linux using ssh/ipod-convienance from AUR. Works great with Amarok, although it didn't want to play nice with gtkpod.
Anyways, onto my real question...
Has anyone tried to make a "backup" of their iPhone under Linux? Since I will never be syncing with iTunes, I don't want anything to happen and lose my purchased apps/music, contacts, sms, settings, etc.
Would it be as simple as mounting the root filesystem with sshfs and making a tar / cpio archive (maybe rsync?) of the filesystem? I will probably be doing the backups once or twice a week.
Thanks,

I've jailbroken mine and use sshfs to mount it and then tar for backups with no issues. I also installed ncftp from cydia and use that to transfer large video files to or out of the iPhone.

Awesome, I'll have to do that then.
