I read the wiki articles
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Extra_Keyboard_Keys and
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Map … o_keycodes
but I am confused.
I have two keys that showkey actually see, but that X does not see.
I had a similar problem in an other computer and I used the program setkeycodes, but reading the wiki article it seems using tha hal way is better.
Alas I understand nothing about how should I proceed.
From the console I see both keys (fn+F1 and fn+F2) have code 465. I guess the kernel cannot distinguish between the two.
Can anyone explain how to map the keys to an X even using the HAL way?
Probably I have to find the right .fdi file from /usr/share/hal/fdi, copy it in /ect/hal/policy and alter it.
But, how can I find the file? How should I change it?
thanks.

the file it is under /usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop directory
30-keymap-*.fdi
i don't know that type of laptop or whatever you have. take a look at those.
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.
