hi all , i got a strange problem today , and I can't get any solutions via google
I tried to burn an ISO image to my blank CD/DVD , but failed , the nautilus-cd-burner terminated in silence , and I tried to burn it with brasero , but failed either , it said "the drive can't be locked (burning CD/DVD)"
How come ? Never met this problem before , on any distros but archlinux
Poor English , thx for help

Are you in the optical group? If not, run this command using your real username and then relog:
# gpasswd -a USERNAME optical

Yeah , of course
Look , this is the information I got from `brasero --debug` while tring to burn iso image to a blank cd:
** (brasero:14913): WARNING **: Failed to restore the system power manager: The name org.freedesktop.PowerManagement was not provided by any .service files
And i got some information may help from dmesg:
nautilus-cd-bur[13502]: segfault at 19 ip b733423f sp bff13dd0 error 4 in libglib-2.0.so.0.1800.2[b72f8000+b4000]

Well all you said in your original post was "the drive can't be locked" which makes it sound like a basic problem
For those debug/dmesg errors, you might need a dev to explain/fix what's wrong. I would suggest changing the title and original post to mention segfaulting..

hmm, needs more info
is a core? dump triggered when nautilus-cd-burner crashes?
you'll see this in the form of a dialog telling you the app crashed and offers you the option
to save it or something
if not can you try with another cd burner, preferably one from kde
it them rules out issues with gnome stuff

I don't think it's a cd-burnner problem , but system related

which is why i wanted to see where it crashed
which the backtrace will tell us, if there is one

Sorry I can't help (Arch newbie!), but I'm wondering if this could be related to an update somewhere. I've been happily burning CD/DVDs with no problems until today, and now I'm getting the exact problem you mention.
Sorry I can't be more help, but it might provide a clue to anyone who knows about these things...

Brasero 0.9.1 is making seg fault and the error from dmesg
brasero[5372]: segfault at 4 ip b7dcce16 sp b2cbcc68 error 6 in libdbus-1.so.3.4.0[b7da7000+36000]. Any solution or to file a bug report?
(LXDE is DM). It fails after writing to the Disc (I thing it is at check sum stage). I just tried burning in GNOME with Brasero, it works fine.

Reboot. It happens to me every so often.
And in the midst of such perfection,
I can't help but feel diseased.

IMO rebooting is not an option just for a application crash. I mentioned already brasero works fine with GNOME but failed with LXDE and that to wired. ie works fine with Acer Travel mate 291Lci but not in Lenovo 3000 N100 ?. Instead I will try another burner or try to find/use any good command line ones like cdrecord.

Try using cdrtools instead of cdrkit (I'm pretty sure the apps you mentioned use cdrkit as their backend) and see if that works. Try using the cdrkit and cdrtools command-line burners.
On rebooting, I agree that it's not a long-term solution, but it may help toubleshoot this.

Moved...
I have no idea if this is related, but there was a problem with udev 140-1 that prevented it from creating correct symlinks for CD/DVD. That was fixed and the new version was released into testing today.

CD/DVD burning is fine with mkisofs and cdrecord. I tried graveman from extra that works nicely and the animation is wonderful IMO. gravemen new version (minor) has been released ( http://graveman.tuxfamily.org/) I tried that without any patch applied but issues I/O error. My humble request to the packager to update this (Advance thanks).
