Interesting, I don't have any issues with that, maybe try to set the theme with lxappearance ( pacman -Sy lxappearance )

I tried tried lxappearance and no luck. I'm probably omitting something really obvious.
What are the steps you're using to install and set as your theme?
I'd think installing from the AUR should be as simple as it sounds. I have no idea why it's not showing up in System->Prefs->Appearance

I download the theme from gnome-look.org, tar -xf gtk-murrine-arch.tar.gz and mv Arch* ~/.themes and that was it. I only use the package for testing purposes. Maybe try to move the ~/.themes folder somewhere else and try a fresh one. Also run the Appearance manager from terminal ( gnome-appearance-properties ) and see what it says.

Hmm... I'm wondering if my GNOME is broken. I'm not sure why I'm the only person getting this.
I removed .themes like you said and it had no effect.
I've reinstalled the package and am pasting the code so you can see what my setup looks like:
$ ls -al ~/.themes
total 8
drwxr-xr-x 2 cojones users 4096 2009-02-08 22:02 .
drwx------ 50 cojones users 4096 2009-02-08 21:59 ..
$ ls /usr/share/themes/Arch*
/usr/share/themes/Arch:
gtk-2.0
/usr/share/themes/Arch-Dark:
gtk-2.0
$ gnome-appearance-properties
/usr/share/themes/Dust/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:719: Murrine configuration option "highlight_ratio" will be deprecated in future releases. Please use "highlight_shade" instead.

See anything obvious here? It didn't work when I had Arch and Arch-Dark in ~/.themes either.

My advice would be to uninstall the package, start GNOME with clean config files ( http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GNO … leshooting ) and install the theme in ~/.themes directory.

Man I have no idea what's going on. I followed the clean GNOME webpage and no luck. I can install other themes fine. The only file in your theme is gtkrc right?

Yes.

Great theme, thanks a lot.

This theme rocks. Thanks a lot! I did have to change bg[NORMAL] to "F0F0F0" and add a line for GtkRange::trough_border = 0, but this is otherwise the perfect theme to take me away from Murrina Water.
Probably stupid suggestion for cisforcojo: IIRC, a "full" Gnome theme has to come with (or specify) a window border theme and an icon theme, whereas this is just a GTK theme, which wouldn't appear in the top-level list of themes, but would be selectable under the "Controls" subsection or something like that. At least that's how it works on my ancient Ubuntu installation. (For the record, I'm actually using KDE now, not Gnome, so I apologize if that didn't hit the mark.)

Hi, I'm not really sure if I'm just to stupid or if the actual package is broken.
Tried to install it several times (via yaourt) with the same result everytime. 2 folders are created in /usr/share/themes (Arch & Arch-Dark) but if I copy them to ~/.themes I'm not able to activate those themes in the thememanger.
What have i done wrong? Can anyone give me an advise please?
Thanks.
PS: Just wondering: Is it correct that there is only one file in those Archthemes? No images and stuff?

Hi, are you using GNOME ? Afaik You can't choose the theme in main appearance menu, you have to go to "customize" and then select it from themes tab. Also the theme in your ~/.themes directory will be selected instead of global directory, so check that you have proper structure - ~/.themes/Arch{Dark}/gtkrc-2.0/gtkrc for both themes. Yes I only have one file in the themes directory nothing more nothing less.

Well thanks.. that's it.
the themes are quite cool Only think i disklike a bit is that the colors are just a bit to equal for the topbar (where the application name stands, e.g. "Firefox" and the bars above). Sorry, if you do not understand that - my english kinda sucks
Cheers,

Actually the themes needs more polishing and adjustments, but I'll try to do it ( I'm a lazy person ).
