Major problems regarding USB halts after a few seconds of transfer.

I have a huge problem when I try to copy some files from my laptop to a USB pen. Have tried both FAT32 and NTFS. When using NTFS I get a I/O error after some tries, and with FAT32, my USB mouse just get stuck. It seems that the whole taskbar at the bottom hangs. And I need to restart the machine.

HAL should be correct configured, since it show correctly in Dolphin. (Using kdemod, but I believ

Just out of interest - have you tried, say ext2 ?
I _know_ fat/ntfs are/should-be more than amply supported, I'm just somewhat vaccinated against anything to come out of Redrock (sorry - Redmond).

Is there any power surge in the hub? Have you tried the file transfer with another USB?. One of my external hard disk silently died and before that it gave all kind of such symptoms.

Re: Major problems regarding USB halts after a few seconds of transfer.

Sorry about the post. But my wireless seems to stall. Can't even read Google Reader.

It a .mkv file on 1,1GB, and a folder with several rar files. Got some TV epsidodes I need to copy.

Quite sure that it has the needed power.

Tryed to post the error.log and messages.log, but as said, my wireless stall. And I can' load any pages.

I had similar problem (mostly downloading files from camera).
disabling USB suspend works for me. You can also delay USB suspend. I never tried this one though.
