I turned my computer on a few minutes ago and it went to the slim login screen like it should, but the mouse and keyboard were not operational and I couldn't do anything, not even switch to vc/1.
I proceeded to reboot into my Linux Mint install (i dual boot) and changed the Arch login manager to GDM. I rebooted, but to no avail, the GDM screen came up and loaded as normal but i couldn't use the mouse or keyboard and had to do a hard reboot. I then booted into a terminal and that worked fine, logged in as root and everything was normal.
Then, on vc/2 I logged in as my user and typed startx. As soon as X started my mouse stopped moving and my keyboard stopped working.
Last time I booted up it worked fine and I didn't change anything (at least not on purpose) that I would think might cause this. So I'm stuck. Any help advice would be appreciated.
thanks in advance
Michael

Are you using hal or did you configure input devices in xorg.conf?

I configured the input devices in xorg.conf, but as I said before, it's been this way since I installed Arch.

I experience the same problem with GDM. Getting it to load, and my mouse work, but when the standard grey square appears I lose connection with mouse and keyboard.
