OK, I've got this brand new machine (amd-64 quad core, 4 gig memory) with a builtin ati radeon hd3200 graphics adapter.
I've had no joy with the 'usual' graphics drivers (ati, radeonhd, vesa) so downloaded from the ati/amd website - got version 8.7 of the 'fglrx' driver.
I am running the very latest version of archlinux-x86_64 (as of yesterday).
Running the install script just bombs out without any explanation and the driver is not found when I start up X.
The funny thing is - I had troubles with the i686 version of archlinux as well - it came back with an error but the driver was obviously installed and it all worked.
With x86_64 I'm well and truely snookered ...
Any suggestions??

It's been solved ...
xorg (for some reason) seem to prefer /usr/lib and /usr/X11R6/lib while the Crystal driver uses /usr/lib64 and /usr/X11R6/lib64.
symbolic links to fglrx_dri.so and fglrx_drv.so was all that was required!
However, even though the install failed (and at the same point both for i686 and x86_64 - see above) the _dri and _drv are still there.
I might not have all the bells and whistles, but it certainly runs xfce4 just purrfect!

if i remove the symbolic link this not return error but is the same (crash when i execute startx), also i try to probe the ati (open source driver) but is the same.
and later reboot the /var/log/Xorg.0.log is empty
any suggestions??
i continue to seek, if you need another log please tell me.
PD: I'm using the same driver (9-3 from http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx) in debian and Arch is x86_64
Thanks
