I'm new to board...

This is my second post here. Actually, I use Crux right now. Can anybody tell me why I should change distro to Archlinux? I heard it's an improved version of Crux. What is actually changed?

- pacman
- pacman
- did i mention pacman? no? ok: pacman!
- arch is like crossing pieces of bsd+debian+slack into crux and watch the monster develop [don't quote that!]
- community (a lot of crazy, funny but friendly people)

Re: I'm new to board...

Well for one thing the base packages are upgraded more frequently. Crux is very slow for upgrading base. I know you can use stuff from the CLC but base packages in arch are all from an official repository and are only maintained by one or two developers, not by CLC users.

The package diversity is manage better and is much larger and it is much easier to install and track.

Basically arch is alot less cumbersome to use. With crux you are very much on your own for system and package maintenance and with arch pacman will keep track of what you need to upgrade. ...... including dependencies.

Arch allows more advance user to do all the tweaking they want manually because it is not loaded with n00bie gui tools. ABS also allows one to build and maintain their own repositories if you so choose and pacman can be tweeaked to allow for any official package to not be upgraded if you are maintaining that package in your repo.
