I am having major issues with mounting my NTFS volumes using dolphin. I tried everything in the archwiki
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HAL
I get the following message
error opening '/dev/sda5' Permission denied
Failed to mount '/dev/sda5' Permission denied
Please check '/dev/sda5' and the ntfs-3g binary permissions and the mounting user ID
I can mount from the command line and the device is then read/write as my normal user. I just can't seem to manage the mounting by using the automounter in kde 4 or in dolphin.

I just reinstalled ntfs-3g again (3rd time) and suddenly it started mounting with hal. I do have the items from the HAL wiki also "enabled" so I am not sure what combination of tricks finally got this to work.
I am thinking when the NTFS-3g driver reinstalled, it 'saw' the policies in place and it configured itself appropriately so if anyone comes across this, do the tricks in the HAL Arch Wiki and then reinstall ntfs-3g

Hi! I also "randomly" solved this problem:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 08#p530108
But as I said in my thread I have to check if it's hal+fstab or just hal.
Arch x86_64 ATI AMD APU KDE frameworks 5

Whatever I do, I always end up with something horribly mis-configured.
