Where's arch's package documentations???

Hi,

I found that there're not as many entries in /usr/share/doc as ubuntu does. In ubuntu, nearly every package comes with a doc package, often named package-doc, placed in /usr/share/doc, which is quite convenient.

I'm new to arch. Can someone tell me how can I find/install the offline documentation's for packages?

thx!

We didn't used to include it until fairly recently so it gets added as packages get rebuilt.  Man pages should be there, and many info pages. Even so, I think that Debian includes a lot more documentation that what tends to be provided by default.

Re: Where's arch's package documentations???

Thank you!

I used to look into the offline documant before going for the online one. Manpages are good, I like them. But some developpers tend to put their documents in the html format rather than in the manpage which leads to poor-content manpages...

anyway, just a personal habit. Thanks again for the help!

You can also just rebuild the packages with makepkg if you have docs set to included in /etc/makepkg.conf. You will also have to remove the options=(!docs) line in the PKGBUILD if that exists. See man PKGBUILD for more info if needed.

edit: Some of the packages remove documentation and i guess doesn't install documentation(?) in the build() function though, so be aware of this.
