The "X as normal user" part at least is currently only at the proof-of-concept stage.

I have to be root to run X? Then how come I can type in commands like "startx" or "xinit" without using sudo or su - root?
Of course, now I split my regular Arch boot option into two: The default I turned into a runlevel 5 that launches SLIM as soon as it is able, with the original Arch boot option to go straight to command line being turned into an alternative "Arch Text Mode."
I digress.
I never had to be root to run X in Arch.

/usr/bin/Xorg has the setuid bit set.
