I had a look at this. Binary only, require gtk1 and some old version of the c++ library. Wasn't motivated enough to get it to the package stage but just letting others know before they try.

Also checked it earlier, only i686 so no go for me, seems like you could just extract it locally in $HOME and run it from there without any problems.
PC: Antec P182B | Asus P8Z77-V PRO | Intel i5 3570k | 16GB DDR3 | GeForce 450GTS | 4TB HDD | Pioneer BDR-207D | Asus Xonar DX | Altec Lansing CS21 | Eizo EV2736W-BK | Arch Linux x86_64
HTPC: Antec NSK2480 | ASUS M3A78-EM (AMD 780G) | AMD Athlon X3 425 | 8GB DDR2 | GeForce G210 | 2TB HDD | Arch Linux x86_64
Server: Raspberry Pi (model B) | 512MB RAM | 750GB HDD | Arch Linux ARM

i try extract it to my home and run it, but it says:
[aleyscha@aleyscha n_v1linux]$ ./n_v14
./n_v14: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
and do nothing

I had the same problem, but creating a link works:
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6.0.9 /usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3
The game ran really choppy for me until I played some music (using mpd if it matters) in the background. You can read the readme file for more information on the music/choppy framerate.

Yeah nj! it works now for me, that link make it work

I know its been a while, but just to let you guys know that I made an unofficial version of N that uses the lastest Flash 9 player (so gtk2, Alsa, performance improvements, no need for old libraries,etc...).
I have tried running it from Arch with no problems (just downloaded the file, set +x and double clicked on it).
The only thing is that I don't know if it is optimized for i686. Being proprietery I can't recompile it for optimization, plus I assume it isn't in order to maintain maximum compatibility with the world.
As for it becoming a package. I think it is unlikely. Metanet say on their site that you can only redistribute N in the form they packaged it (so no repackaging). I emailed them offering to become an official mantainer of the linux port, and even was willing to create packages for major distros, but got no reply (you can tell that I'm addicted to this game, can't you ).
You could take my version, repackage it and have it part of the repository, but I'm not sure if they would complain (I don't see why they would, it still has their name and URL on it, so it would be like free advertising, but you never know with the legal stuff).
If you want to download my version (or just see a list of fixes) you can find it here.
Thanks!

Hey, Glad you like it!
I got addicted to that game years ago when I played it on a friends OSX machine, good times, but the Linux version was lacking in soo many ways, it was atrocious. I tried to make it better
Interesting note: When I was browsing the web I noticed that someone has packaged the game into archlinux under the package "arch-games" with the name "n-ninja". (you can see the commit here: arch-games commit). It might be easier to use that package now as I presume the person is willing to maintain it and keep it up to date.

this thread needs a bump.

Bump due to error.
I tried the site version and packaged version, but both of them simply ignore my keyboard. No key presses are registered at all.
It's a shame, because I've been playing the Windows version under Wine for quite some time.

play around with window focus, it's a bit tricky but it works.
