no gnome-session

I am a newbie to Arch but not to other version of linuxes. I have installed x86-64 version, completed the base install and X as well as Gnome.
When I log in, it reports that "No X-Clients file in the system " and drops me to vanilla X-windows session. I have tried adding gdm as a daemon in rc.conf with no success.
Can anybody guide me what to do about it?

The beginners guide is fantastic for first time Arch installs http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners_Guide I am not sure where your problem lies did you configure your /.xinitrc file? The information is in the link there. Good luck

Re: no gnome-session

I put hal as a Daemon in rc.conf. That also didnt help.  There doesnt seem to be any explicit file for Xclients in home dirctory or in /etc as per Arch's way of configuration.  Then I did the next best thing. Removed Gnome in favour of KDE4.2.
There was no problem for graphical login at boot for KDE.
