Compositing problems in KDE4

Hello,

I had compositing in the past, using the proprietary ati driver, but since the 3d-support was bad and it was terribly slow, I switched to the xf86-video-ati driver. But now I haven't been able to activate compositing in KDE4 ever since, except when selecting XRender as compositing type, but that is slow as hell.

My xorg.conf:

So I guess you answered your own question? No fancy compositing without 3D acceleration.
