Hello,
After updating kde 4 to latest version, sth went wrong and kwin cannot enable effects. However, if I create a new user, effects work just fine. I tried removing .kde4 and .kde directories, but the problem remains. So, which other config files and/or directories should I delete so that I can restore kwin's functionality?
Thanks in advance.

It seems I found a temporary solution. The only way to activate kwin's effects is to run the command
`KWIN_COMPOSE=O kwin --replace &`
in a terminal. However, the setting doesn't stick after rebooting, so I have to run it every time. Any clues why that happened and how I can solve it permanently? As a last resort I guess I will have to add a startup script or sth, but I would like to avoid that. This is obviously KDE's problem, because when I create a new user, effects can be enabled. Besides removing .kde4 and .kde folders, I also uninstalled and reinstalled KDE but even that didn't fix it.
Thanks in advance.
