Today I decided to try out LXDE so I install it, but i wanted to keep XFCE intact. Wishful thinking it seems. Both LXDE and XFCE autostart from the same folder! This seems patently absurd to me. They can't each make their own folder? Have an option to have a global autostart folder if they need it! Anyway, where can I change this behavior so I don't have to rename my folders?

That's because both follow the freedesktop specs, which says, that programs should be autostarted by *.desktop files in ~/.config/autostart. What you can do is to install lxsession-edit from AUR and deactivate, what you don't want to be started in LXDE and the same with XFCE, which has such a tool integrated by default.
