External media manager

My question is if there exists any applet for controlling the usb media that you plug in the machine - something like what windows has (the safe remove media icon thing)....
Im used to have the mounted media displayed as an icon on the desktop, but i am tired of this.... i prefer to not overload my desktop with all the connected media..... and i prefer a small applet for gnome panel that allows me to extract the media in a couple of clicks....
Any suggestion?

Re: External media manager

Ok, forget about it: gnome already comes with the disk mounter applet, that does exactly what i was looking for.
