[SOLVED]Kernel Update broke my wireless (RTL8187B)

Hi,

I just updated my kernel to the new 2.6.29-ARCH and when I restarted, it didn't want to connect to my network. I can safely say that it is not my network since it works in XP.  I also know that it isn't a firmware problem since my network card has kernel level support. It actually isn't a network card but an integrated usb 2.0 adapter that came with my Toshiba Satellite L45-S7409. I tried doing it manually by:

ifconfig wlan0 up
iwconfig wlan0 essid Juan key xxxxxxxxx.....
dhcpcd wlan0

but all I get is a timed out error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have same problem with kernel2.6.29 and i downgrade kernel to 2.6.28.
I see wireless card (wlan0) with ifconfig -a, but I can get net with wicd.

I use netcfg to connect to my network along with the profiles section in my rc.conf if it helps.

I'm not sure if this is relevant (because it sounds like you are connected to your AP; dhcpd is just timing out), but to rule it out, try this: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=69518

Hmmm... I think that would of helped. I downgraded though wink thanks for the effort though.

EDIT: Nope Nope strike that. Installing crda did the trick. Thanks. lol

Edit your first post, you should be able to change the subject (topic title) from there.
