modules for Xorg; question about google earth

What is the package's name of module 'xtrap' and 'freetype'?

In your opinion, why do I see Google Earth in this way? http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/2359/immaginecopia.png

Re: modules for Xorg; question about google earth

Hello otto0,

If I run the command "locate xtrap" it tells me:

/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libxtrap.so
/var/lib/pacman/sync/extra/libxtrap-1.0.0-2
/var/lib/pacman/sync/extra/libxtrap-1.0.0-2/depends
/var/lib/pacman/sync/extra/libxtrap-1.0.0-2/desc

So if I ask pacman which package owns the module with the command "pacman -Qo /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libxtrap.so", it tells me:

/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libxtrap.so is owned by xorg-server 1.5.3-4

It is the same with freetype except the first search which needs to be filtered: "locate freetype | grep xorg"

So I guess you should verify the presence of those 2 files and eventually reinstall xorg-server.

I don't know why google earth displays this way but I see in your xorg log that you have the "backing store" option enabled. According to the Arch wiki it can cause problems (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVI … ckingStore) so maybe you can try disabling it in case it's related to your display problem.

Re: modules for Xorg; question about google earth

Hi JF.

1) When I run "locate xtrap", I got:

/var/abs/community/system/aurtools/extrapkg
/var/lib/pacman/sync/extra/libxtrap-1.0.0-2
/var/lib/pacman/sync/extra/libxtrap-1.0.0-2/depends
/var/lib/pacman/sync/extra/libxtrap-1.0.0-2/desc

I'm using testing/xorg-server 1.6.0-2, and testing/nvidia 180.44-1.

2) I've set "backing store" to "false", but I see Google Earth in the same way.

Thank you very much!

Re: modules for Xorg; question about google earth

So the module file doesn't seem to be in present your system.

You are using packages from the testing repo so things may break or change, eg: maybe this module is provided by another package.

You can see if it's supposed to be provided by your version of xorg-server by querying the package's file list:

pacman -Ql xorg-server | grep modules

If it's in the list but not on your disk, you'll have to reinstall xorg-server.

[cut]

OK, I'm looking for it.

BTW, I have not found solution yet. But I set "Use safe mode" from "Tools>Options" (Graphics Mode), and now it works.

Cheers,
