Elisa won't start

i have just recently done a fresh install of arch. before i was using the proprietary driver for my graphics card it would open, but wouldnt really work right (eg the screen would flicker and lag). but now i have the proprietary driver installed and everything else works perfectly, but elisa wont open. when i click on it i get the splash screen but then nothing. the system monitor tells me it is running and using %50 of my cpu and there is no way it will let me end/kill it. if i try to back out of x at this point it gets stuck at a black screen and i have to do a hard shutdown. is there anybody else with this problem? any ideas? if anyone thinks it might be my xorg.conf, let me know and i will post it for you. thanks
