Hey there,
I would like to ask for an advice. So i have an usb stick and the problem is that after unsafe removal it just stopped working. I tryed formating it on win through cmd, but got an error about a raw fs. After booting to Arch i tryed to make fs using fdisk and mkfs, but no luck.
Actually fdisk just does not create a partition on /dev/sdb.This is what "fdisk -l /dev/sdb" prints out after using "w" in fdisk:
Disk /dev/sdb: 8420 MB, 8420065280 bytes
64 heads, 32 sectors/track, 8030 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 2048 * 512 = 1048576 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x0016006f
Disk /dev/sdb doesn't contain a valid partition table
No matter what i do fdisk just does not write any partitions.Maybe i'm doinf smth wrong here and someone has any suggestions? Would appreciate that thx in advance

Even though it is a Windows program, the HP USB Format Tool will almost always put the USB Stick back to factory default condition.

Try fdisk again, then tell it to create a new empty DOS partition table, then create a new primary partition and write the changes to disk. Unplug the pen drive and plug it again, check dmesg for any errors, if no errors try to fdisk -l again and if the partition is there create the filesystem, otherwise no idea why it doesn't work.
The drive might malfunctioning too but until you get more help don't assume that

Perhaps you will have better luck using gparted.................
