There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

Do you mean the document viewer on the left? If so, I think it is okular. Or are you talking about conky piped into XMobar?

No,i meant okular. I guess its inside some KDE "group". It looks nice. Not nice enough to install KDE for though. Thanks

first real try at dwm, it might replace wmii for me

@ Daisuke_Aramaki, mind shareing you .Xdefaults vimrc and ncmpcpp config (assuming thats what you use)
and what font is that, terminus? size 9?

oh and does anyone know how to add a tile to the master one, i know you can do this on scrotwm and xmonad i think but i cant figure it out on dwm, kind of a big draw back

this is beautiful!

did you add that to your command section in your ~/.vifm/vifmrc?
then in vifm do :com
and cp and it will copy from one pane to the other with vcp.

you have to edit vifmrc while vifm isnt running.
It's working perfectly here.

/edit
heres my vifmrc if you want to look at it.
still haven't finished, i need to work on the filetypes for archives and all the funky playlist stuff for making playlists in visual mode.

works! thanks alot. wasn't a config problem..I had vifm set to use screen, but I was running it inside a normal urxvt. If I run inside GNU Screen it works smile

PS: I just set the USE_SCREEN variable to 0 and it works everywhere now..odd thing is that the vifm help says that if you set that to 0 it won't use colors anymore..but seems to work still..so double joy big_smile

glad you got it working, i usually have it set to use screen, so it would open vcp in a screen tab, but was working on my screenrc a little bit ago, so had it turned off in the config i posted.

I'm still working on getting dwm setup as plain as i can.

Not bad, but the text in that screenshot is unreadable (for me anyway).
I suggest fbgrab for screenshots
Also, on a CLI only setup, needed apps should include ( you probably know of them but still ) :
FBI (framebuffer image viewer). Comes in a package called "fbida", which also includes a pdf viewer (it's just a script that converts pdf's to tiffs using ghostscript then displays using fbi, but I wrote one myself when I was a CLI only user)
NETHACK! tongue
mplayer -vo fbdev -bpp 32 (use the scale filter to get fullscreen)
Also you should take a look at http://phraktured.net/linux-console-colors.html ( you can set custom colors in console smile )

On a side note..get ready to use `openvt` A LOT! smile

1. I never used elinks but I imagine you can set it up to download and open the file with anything you want. But I should tell you that flash is one of the few things you should let go when using a CLI only system..It's just not worth it...
2. For images I'd rather use links -g (or w3m-graphics but I have trouble with that one..I can see the thumbnails but it won't open them)
3. Not sure you can do that in DWM. There may be a patch for it though

No need for xft, just use xfontsel to build font strings.

static const char font[] = "-*-terminus-medium-r-normal-*-14-*-*-*-*-*-*-*";

PS: using XFT will go against the whole dwm "philosophy"..plus will add an extra dependency for a useless option
