Not sure what I did, but my system tray (you know, the place where the speaker icon displays) disappeared! I've searched the forum and the wiki and not come across anyone else who made this bonehead mistake (lol). Please, if anyone knows how to get it back, I'd sure appreciate knowing. And if you can make a guess what I did to make it go away, that would be helpful too. Don't want to make the same mistake again!
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Depending on your desktop environment (which you neglected to mention), the volume icon might not be in the system tray. What about something that will show in the tray, like pidgin or sonata?

Sorry, I'm running kdemod 4.2.2

Ah. Well, have you tried adding the plasma applet thing (whatever it's called) again?

No, don't know what the "plasma applet thing" is. I'll look in Shaman and see what might be there. May need to ask which plasma item is the right one. Not in Arch right now. Will check when I get back in there. Thanks.

Well, I don't use kde. What I meant is that the panel, as well as the desktop widgets, are all part of the plasma program, and the system tray is provided by plasma. When you right-click on the desktop, you should get a menu where one of the selections is along the lines of "Add a new widget". Click that, and see if you can find the system tray.

Thank you so much. That did the trick. If I Rclick the desktop I can add the system tray to it. If I want it where it was, I need to Rclick the taskbar and install it from there.
Again, thanks for the help.
