[SOLVED]KDM not quite working

Okay, so I'm very new to Arch, but all in all installation of kde 4.2.2 went very well, and most things seems to be working. One annoying problem though, is that kdm really don't want to load when booting, and I instead get a plain ol' login-prompt. I've googled, and altered, but something is wrong.

1) I've added kdm at the very end of my DAEMON list.
2) my home/myname/.xinitrc only has one line, saying: "exec startkde"

Some weird behaviour: I can easily get into kde just by running "startx" after text-login, so obviously this isn't a big issue, just annoying. Strangely enough, if I then logout, and from the text-prompt run "sudo shutdown now", it sends me to the KDM login window (from which I can then login normally or shut down the system).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: [SOLVED]KDM not quite working

Somehow I managed to fix the issue. Not sure what I did, except change my network settings, but it's working now. How do I mark my thread as solved?

To mark thread - Edit your original post and change the subject line.

Also suggest you read the wiki on login managers, you either start kdm as a daemon or put runlevel 5 in your inittab to get a graphical login.   Your .xinitrc is only read when you type startx, it won't start a *dm automatically.

Re: [SOLVED]KDM not quite working

Thanks. I already read the wiki, and always had kdm run as a DAEMON, it just didn't load. Then I changed my network from DHCP to a static adress, and now I got kdm loading. Don't ask me how or why, though. But all's good.
