Boxee problems

i have had no luck with getting elisa to work and in the desperate need for a media center i turned to boxee. i actually love it so far, with one problem so far... when i select boxee from the menu, or run the command, or set it as a shortcut or launcher, it opens but freezes as soon as it does. i just get stuck at the login and i cant get out in any way but a hard shutdown. when i run it through a terminal it runs fine (once it froze but only once). i do get this line a few times when i run from terminal, but im not sure it it is a problem at all:
Xlib:  extension "Generic Event Extension" missing on display ":0.0"
Xlib:  extension "Generic Event Extension" missing on display ":0.0"
Xlib:  extension "Generic Event Extension" missing on display ":0.0"
Xlib:  extension "Generic Event Extension" missing on display ":0.0"

if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated

The error messages have nothing to do with boxee getting stuck.
Maybe you could check the boxee(xbmc)-logfile.
