Hi there! I recently installed on my MacBook ArchLinux and I find it very satisfactory. The only problem I have is with the flashplugin. When I switch to full screen mode (in youtube for example) the video playback is no way fluent and stops around each second (the video is already loaded, this is not a connection speed issue).
I'd like to know what may cause flashplayer to behave this way and how I can fix it.

Dito problem here; I think its more of a driver/graphics issue though...

Either graphics driver or sucky Flash decoding speed. What X driver are you using? What's your xorg.conf?
Gnash and swfdec work for some Flash stuff, try those if you want, they should be a ton faster.
Do you have a CPU speed -adjusting daemon on?

I don't have a xorg.conf configuration file. Everything worked out of the box for me as I installed xf86-video-intel.
I also tried gnash, but the result was awful:
I have the cpu freq applet, but even if I switch to 'Performance' mode, nothing changes...
This is all very strange... flash has always worked well with the other distros...

Hi, I'd like to bump up this topic...I'm having the issues with Youtube and other online sites in fullscreen only as well. Playing back HD video stored locally is no problem, nor is playing back a Youtube video in the default size, or even any other size up to the fullscreen. Just fullscreen Youtube/Hulu/Veoh etc videos are laggy.

I blame fglrx for that. What graphics driver are you guys using?
(my old laptop plays fullscreen like it should with open radeon drivers, as well as another desktop with intel graphics)

Hey I'm using xf86-video-intel with the 945gm. didn't have this problem with mepis linux, only when I started using Arch about a half-year ago.

Sadly, nvidia also has this problem. With my 9800GT at that.
And so far, it's only been youtube, and only if I move the mouse or touch the keyboard. If I'm still, no problems.

It the opposite here with nvidia driver. When i have a bunch of tabs open with flash ads etc it will lag my computer eventually and i go fullscreen to stop the lag.

Same here using the 185.xx series nvidia drivers and a pair of GTX280 cards. Also, I've got 2xQuad Xeon CPUs and it maxes a core when running fullscreen. I'd say that it's pretty obvious that hardware acceleration is broken in fullscreen mode. As a workaround I've been using the Zoom plugin for Compiz Fusion with the bilinear filter enabled. It's not high quality for HD movies but it does get pretty good results on just plain SD quality videos. On a side note, I should mention that this box has some lag in Windows Vista in fullscreen too, so it may be Adobe's fault and not a linux specific issue.
