Failed to load Modules

Following the beginners guide and installing everything i need for nvidia.  When i startx  i recieve to error messages
Failed to load module "Freetyoe" module does not exist
and the same thing for type1
I have tried to comment those lines in xorg.conf but it still does not work .
ANy ideas what i shoudl try next.

I had the very same probs with X and it came down to hal not working. Try to start hal manually and see what error messages it comes up with.

i ran /etc/rc.d/hal start and the test failed
PS I am on a computer sitting next to the one i am getting the errors. and i dont know how to copy and paste from the command line. otherwise i would be using lynx to post this

So i followed directions on another post and install fam and now when i restart hal It now works.  But startx still gives me the same error.  All i am trying to do is get to xterm to test my xorg.conf.
