Re: Daily KDE4 Subversion Packages

I can report that on my amd64 X2 5050e system kde-svn-all x68_64 installed perfectly, and is working fine so far.
Of course this is usually the case with markc's great packages.  smile  Very nice!  Many kudos to markc.
Kde-svn is getting so good I'm thinking I might finally be moving completely to kde-4.3.0 final when it's released this summer (currently using 3.5.10 as my main desktop partition).

Comparible to my Gentoo kde-svn installs from the kde-testing overlay. Kde apps in both distros report:

Using KDE 4.2.69 (KDE 4.2.69 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090406))

Re: Daily KDE4 Subversion Packages

Is anyone else having issues with akonadi-server in x86_64? It cannot start in my machine. There is something strange with qmysql support. The error log is this:

Akonadi Server Self-Test Report
===============================

Test 1:  ERROR
--------

Database driver not found.
Details: The QtSQL driver 'QMYSQL' is required by your current Akonadi server configuration.
The following drivers are installed: QSQLITE, QODBC3, QODBC, QPSQL7, QPSQL.
Make sure the required driver is installed.

....

Any ideas?

Re: Daily KDE4 Subversion Packages

I built amarok2-svn-952966-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz (951151 was 2.1beta1) today, you can download and try it from here: http://karoshi.atbhost.net/archlinux/amarok2-svn/

Looks like this right now: tMWlydQ

Updated to amarok2-svn-953500-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz

Re: Daily KDE4 Subversion Packages

re: krusader in kde-extra. It depends on lha, which doesn't exist in any of the repositories (or aur for that matter).

Not sure the if package is even needed, now that krusader 2 has made its way into extra (I only noticed because it wants to upgrade it to the kde-extra version on pacman -Syu and the lha dependency prevents the upgrade).

Re: Daily KDE4 Subversion Packages

@b9anders: good catch, I changed all the krusader dependencies, except qt, to optdepends instead of depends. It's built directly from krusaders svn repo so it's probably still a relevant bleeding edge package but the official extra/krusader will most likely be more stable. Don't forget to take advantage of IgnorePkg in /etc/pacman.conf to fine tune what gets installed.

@capthookb: that QtSQL driver problem is strange. Both my qt-copy and qt-snapshot configures have -plugin-sql-mysql so maybe you are using a different qt.

@karoshi: I'm glad you got amarok to build. I've been away for a week so I'll try again and see what happens.

@everyone: a reminder that I can't use kde4 because it (being mainly plasma) simply will not run on qt-snapshot on my particular hardware (nVidia 8200) so I am not going to notice any problems. Well, to be fair, anything to do with opengl won't run and that's a Qt issue. Please remember to post any issues or suggestions here so I that have half a chance of fixing things.

If anyone else is interested in "taking over" and building both i686 and x86_64 package sets then I'll do everything I can to help you get set up to do so. In the mean time I'll try and keep up the nighly builds until someone(s) else does.

I'm going flat out to build a pure Javascript based desktop system using mochaui.com. Stuff it, the JS engine wars are hotting up to the point where JS rendering is nearly as good as a native, but increasingly bloated,  C/C++ gui systems and HTML5 is way too cool. Chuck in server side javascript and why bother with anything else.

Re: Daily KDE4 Subversion Packages

does anyone here have krunner working right now? I'm assuming it's just one of those things with dailies, but I wanted to be sure it might not be due to my 4.2 config files meshing things up.

Re: Daily KDE4 Subversion Packages

@markc,
I seem to have the old iodbc/unixodbc conundrum again. sad
Apparently, I can't have kde-svn-all installed (needs iodbc), and update everything else with -Syu (needs unixodbc).
I get this:

bash-3.2# pacman -Syu
:: Synchronizing package databases...
 kde-svn is up to date
 kde-extra is up to date
 testing is up to date
 core is up to date
 extra is up to date
 community is up to date
:: Starting full system upgrade...
warning: exiv2: local (0.18.1-1) is newer than kde-extra (0.18-2009041510)
warning: kdesvn: local (1.2.4-1) is newer than kde-extra (1.2.2+-2009041510)
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
:: unixodbc conflicts with iodbc. Remove iodbc? [Y/n] n
error: unresolvable package conflicts detected
error: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
:: unixodbc: conflicts with iodbc
bash-3.2# pacman -Rf iodbc
checking dependencies...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: kdesupport: requires iodbc
:: qt-copy: requires iodbc
bash-3.2#

However, if I just do pacman -Sf kde-svn-all, all kde-svn packages install normally. Then, if I try to update all other Arch packages, I still get

bash-3.2# pacman -Syu
:: Synchronizing package databases...
 kde-svn is up to date
 kde-extra is up to date
 testing is up to date
 core is up to date
 extra is up to date
 community is up to date
:: Starting full system upgrade...
warning: exiv2: local (0.18.1-1) is newer than kde-extra (0.18-2009041510)
warning: kdesvn: local (1.2.4-1) is newer than kde-extra (1.2.2+-2009041510)
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
:: unixodbc conflicts with iodbc. Remove iodbc? [Y/n] Y
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: kdesupport: requires iodbc
:: qt-copy: requires iodbc
bash-3.2#

If I answer n, I get this:

:: Starting full system upgrade...
warning: exiv2: local (0.18.1-1) is newer than kde-extra (0.18-2009041510)
warning: kdesvn: local (1.2.4-1) is newer than kde-extra (1.2.2+-2009041510)
resolving dependencies...
looking for inter-conflicts...
:: unixodbc conflicts with iodbc. Remove iodbc? [Y/n] n
error: unresolvable package conflicts detected
error: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
:: unixodbc: conflicts with iodbc
bash-3.2#

So, it appears only kde-svn requires iodbc, and in order to update other Arch packages you need unixodbc.
But as long as I have kde-svn installed, even pacman -Rf won't let me remove iodbc in order to get unixodbc. Is the only solution to completely remove kde-svn-all, then update Arch with unixodbc, and then reinstall kde-svn-all and replace unixodbc with iodbc?

Or (as is probably the case),am I just stupidly missing something very obvious? roll

Re: Daily KDE4 Subversion Packages

You need to use pacman -Rd to remove it.

Re: Daily KDE4 Subversion Packages

It's a messy one alright. I'm rebuilding just kdesupport and qt-copy again and moved iodbc from depends=() to optdepends=() so it may be a little less ugly for those that do not upgrade every day. This may be a gotcha for anyone building kde-svn from scratch but that is not very likely and the tradeoff is, I hope, that someone doesn't get into that endless ugly loop. As b9anders says, a -Rd may be all you need to do but I think moving iodbc and virtuoso-opensource out of the kdesupport depends=() is a reasonable strategy anyway... it'll only affect anyone building kdesupport who actually wants to use those dependendencies, they have to manually make sure they are installed.

Hmm, looks like I need to bump the exiv2 and kdesvn $pkgver variables. Actually, I'll remove exvi2 as the standard package seems uptodate these days.

Re: Daily KDE4 Subversion Packages

Has taglib-extras been built into the kdesupport package? Seems to own the files that taglibs-extras previously owned (before I pacman -Rd'ed it to upgrade). If so, can it be included in the 'provides' listing?

Re: Daily KDE4 Subversion Packages

So , finally I manage to understand what's wrong with the problem of missing icons on a fresh install or in some other installations.It's definetely a packaging issue. after installing the oxygen icons in kdesupport or others in kdebase

xdg-icon-resource forceupdate --theme hicolor

is to be run..
so , mark probably in this packages you need to add a kdesupport.install and a kdebase.install like that

post_install() {
    xdg-icon-resource forceupdate --theme hicolor &> /dev/null
}

post_upgrade() {
    post_install
}

post_remove() {
    post_install
}

like others kde4 installations. My icons are back! big_smile
thanks

Re: Daily KDE4 Subversion Packages

just a note on the kdebase pkgbuild
on depends()

depends=(
  kdesupport kdelibs kdepimlibs libxklavier libraw1394 libusb rarian
  pam libxcomposite libxres libxss smbclient libxdamage networkmanager
  libcaptury lm_sensors qimageblitz xdg-utils consolekit libxxf86misc
)

qimageblitz is provided by kdesupport so it can be removed, what is missing is qca that is not compiled in kdesupport anymore according to the CmakeList.txt. I use qca from extra , so I would add this as deps.
