Hi All
When copying/moving any file (i've got permissions and ownage) i cannot overwrite existing one, i can only change name and then copy it.
Anyone have some ideas?
Arch 64bit, ext4, kde 4.2.
Thanks.

Are you using gamin, fam, or neither?
If you're using one, try the other. Fam requires a daemon in /etc/rc.conf, gamin does not.
If you're using neither, try installing gamin and rebooting just to be certain.
Also, what happens? If you try to paste, is the option greyed out or non-existent? 'No option' is a little vague in that respect, and I expect you mean the former while implying the latter.

Are you sure that you can't replace a file?
KDE always asks if you wish to rename but the dialog has also the replace option.
BTW I use FAM.
Arch x86_64 ATI AMD APU KDE frameworks 5

Whatever I do, I always end up with something horribly mis-configured.

Thanks for the fast replies,
i've never heard of fam or gamin, i'm not certain if i have those installed and that might be it.
I don't have this option at all, sorry, next time i'll try to be more specific.
I'll try your resolutions later when i get back home.

Adding fam to rc.conf helped, thanks.
Should i somehow close this topic or leave it to moderators?

You can change the title of the thread by editing the first post. Just append [SOLVED] to the end of the thread title.
