So back in college in late 90s I saw linux for the first time as I was taking a Unix class and needed a test platform. After the class was over, I stayed with it for a while, but went back to windows at home. A few years later in 2001 I picked up work with an Internet startup that was a hosting company based on linux machines. I was able to use my unix class memories to get the job and got up to speed on scripting for the company. After a few months in I moved on to a better job. So again I went back to windows. (There is a point to all this). About 18 months ago, I downloaded a copy of Ubuntu 7.10 as I finally got fed up with Micro$oft. Being forced to use Vista was the last draw. Since I hadn't used linux for over 6 years, I had quite a bit to catch up on. But seeing Linux today was inspiring. As I slowly got back up to speed, I moved every computer off of Windoze. Now today I have 6 units running on linux. But even still as I got better, I found how much Ubuntu was bloated. So began about 6 months ago distro hopping. Never hearing about arch linux, I would shy away. In the past 6 months I've tried Ubuntu, Kubuntu, openSuSE, Fedora, Linux Mint, Dreamlinux, Gos Gadgets, OpenGEU, Xbuntu, Mythbuntu, JAD, 64Studio, Ubuntu Studio, Musix, Damn Small, Mandriva, and probably even more that I can't think of right now. Both in Gnome and KDE form, plus some Enlightenment, XFCE, etc... My point is after all this time of searching, I've finally found the perfect distro. The only distro (that I've tried) that lets me decide what and how I want it. Thanks so much. My distro hopping has ended. Now I know why I've seen that comment in so many forums before when referring to Arch. Arch is the best, by far!!!

Not to mention the community is large enought that as I try to figure stuff out, there are others that have had the same problem. Yet small enough that I don't have to spend hours on google trying to work through what articles can actually help me and which can't. Actually, everything I've tried so far has been covered in the wiki or forums. I've even been able to fix the wireless printing on my openSuSE (read soon to be Archlinux) laptop because of getting it to work with Arch. Owned or not, I'm staying right here ![]()
