Re: Entire system slow when using the disk

Arent you using Intel ICH8/9 controler? I have same issue,  ive found some posts on kernel mailing list regarding this as bug on this controlers, and adviceing connecting disks to JMicron controler, unfortunately on my motherboard (Abit ab9 quadgt) JMicron only handles external esata drives.

Re: Entire system slow when using the disk

OK the problem is back in all its lagginess sad I moved from ext3 -> 4 and my fstab says
defaults,barrier=0,noatime and I'm still using the deadline scheduler but the lag is horrible ...
Still no real solution for this problem?

Edit: I'm trying out the anticipatory scheduler that was used <=2.6.18 ...
Edit2: OK seems much better I didn't realise that the old scheduler was
still an option cool
